My Thoughts On... His Obsession Next Door by Cathryn Fox

His Obsession Next Door

(In the Line of Duty)

Book Description

 February 18, 2014
Once the fuse is lit, there’s only one way to extinguish the flames.

In the Line of Duty, Book 1

Years ago, Cole Sullivan made a battlefield promise sealed in a dying man’s blood—to take care of his best friend’s little sister. Now he’s forced to live with the fact that Gemma Matthews is completely off limits.
Though Gemma’s always had a crush on the darkly handsome, far-too-serious explosives expert, she can’t forget the sting of his rejection. Now here they are, ten years later, with Cole still stubbornly in the role of protector. But when she catches him watching her from his house next door, she jumps at the opportunity to show him everything he’s been missing.
Cole can barely keep his cool at Gemma’s bedroom window performance. He’s never been a risk taker, but her all-out campaign of seduction ignites a fuse that can only blow up in his face.
All thoughts of backing off are swept away in the heat of reckless passion. Leaving him wondering how he will live with himself amid the razor-sharp shards of his broken promise.

Warning: Contains a smoking-hot explosives expert and enough heat to set an ammunition depot ablaze.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book! The sexual tension between Gemma & Cole, was hot enough to have my Kindle smokin! When they finally do get together it's inferno hot!! I'd give it a 10 out of 10 on my Steamy Scale ;-) Although Gemma's been in love with Cole since she was 17, she didn't think he felt the same because he turned down her advance at that time. Cole has always cared for Gemma but thought he wasn't good enough for her because of his upbringing & she's his best friend Brandon sister.

Fast forward to years later Brandon has died in combat, and his dying wish to Cole is to always protect Gemma. Cole takes his promise to Brandon seriously. When he's no longer able to deny his feelings for Gemma, suffers double with Survivor's Guilt and feelings of betrayal to Brandon. It's now up to Gemma to show Cole that they belong together & that Brandon would be happy for them. If there is anything negative to say about His Obsession Next Door, would be that I wish there was an epilogue at the end of the story. One showing where Gemma & Cole with their dogs Charlie & Stallone a few months later. Or about their wedding, giving the book a perfect HEA ending.

I'm looking forward to reading other books from the In the Line of Duty series!  I recommend His Obsession Next Door to lovers of romance, this is the book for you!

My Thoughts on... Come Home To Me by Brenda Novak

Come Home To Me

(Whiskey Creek)

Home is where her heart is
When Presley Christensen returns to Whiskey Creek with her little boy after two years away, she has completely changed her life. She's made peace with her past and overcome the negative behavior that resulted from her difficult childhood. Now she's back in the small town that was the closest thing to "home" she ever knew—the town where she can be with the sister who's her only family.
There's just one catch. Aaron Amos still lives in Whiskey Creek, at least until he moves to Reno to open a branch of the Amos brothers' auto body shop. And no matter how hard she's tried, Presley hasn't been able to get over him. Seeing him again makes the longing so much worse. But she hopes she can get through the next few months, because she can't fall back into his arms…or his bed. She's come too far to backslide now. And there's a secret she's been guarding—a secret she'll do anything to protect.

Let me start this review off by saying that this is the 2nd book that I’ve read by Brenda Novak, so you may just take this with a grain of salt. I’ve experienced mixed emotions with Come Home To Me. Meaning that although Presley and Aaron got there HEA, the ending left a lot to be desired. If there was a epilogue at the end showing them down the road 6 months later, or during/after their wedding would have wrapped it up nicely for me.

Both characters overcame a lot in the 2 years they were apart, and I recognize and appreciate that, but the back and forth of how Presley sees herself became exhausting. As well as how everyone was determine not to see how Aaron has changed and to keep him away from Presley. I don’t agree with how Presley and her sister handled the big secret that she is keeping from Aaron, and he was very justified in his anger when he found out. Presley’s reason were purely based on her selfishness and insecurities. Then the scheme that her sister got both Aaron and Presley involved in will most definitely blow up in their faces later.

Other than those points Come Home To Me was a good story, and very well written. It was a very touching love story about seizing your second chance when it’s given to you. I recommend this book for readers who enjoy love stories.

My Thoughts On... Spring Fling: A New Adult Anthology

Spring Fling: A New Adult Anthology

Book Description

March 11, 2014

Four tales of hot New Adult romance in New Orleans …
Party Spring Break–style with four bestselling romance authors, including Julia Kent and Sara Fawkes, as they dish out sexy tales of romance in the Big Easy!

Share Me by Julia Kent
Emma Barton has just been dumped—for being boring. Now she's letting loose and reclaiming her inner bad girl with not one, but two sexy strangers! Double the pleasure means double the fun, right?

My Thoughts on "Share Me"...

Share Me was a wonderful story about Emma setting herself free after a bad breakup with her fiancé Ryan. After being together since high school. Baby when Emma moves on, she moves on! Starting on the plane to get to New Orleans for Spring Break. Where she meets the very sect Miki, yummy! The story gets hot from there, the temperature rises when Emma is introduced to Miki's friend David! These three burn up the pages with all the heat they make when they're together! This story gets a 10 out of 10 on my Steamy Scale. A definite "Must Read "!!!

Shake Me by Sara Fawkes
Determined to forget her cheating boyfriend, Cassidy Dupre agrees to a night out with playboy Travis Dean. But when she finds herself wanting more than she bargained for, this evening could spell desire … or disaster!

My Thoughts On "Shake Me"...

Shake Me was a tear jerkingly beautiful! Travis & Cassidy are absolutely perfect for each other. It's a wonderful story about a wild weekend in New Orleans that brings two childhood best friends back together, were they were meant to be. I would give this story an 8 out of 10 on my Steamy Scale. I also loved that the fortune teller "Share Me" was Travis' grandmother. Even though the stories in this book are about Spring break flings, I'm abundantly happy Travis & Cassidy got their HEA (Happy Ever After).

Show Me by Cathryn Fox
Eva Parker wants a lesson in seduction … from her brother's best friend. When teaching becomes tension, will they be able to keep it professional? Or will friends forever become something much hotter?

My Thoughts On "Show Me"...

I absolutely adored Eva & Luke's story! Eva was the classic nerd girl who isn't aware of her natural sex appeal, but Luke most certainly is. Eva has been in love with Luke since she was a kid, but accepted that her brother's best friend who never see her in the same light. So fast forward to spring break of her sophomore year of college and she is determined to lose her v-card. Eva comes up with the plan to ask Luke to help transform her into a sex kitten, by showing her how to dress, talk, and act with a guy she's interested in. Luke finally agrees, but the more he helps her, the he wants Eva for himself. The only thing keeping him in check is his loyalty to Eva's brother. When Eva discovers that Luke wants her, she uses everything he's taught her to get him in her bed! I give this story a 10 out of 10 on my Steamy Scale. When those two finally get together they set the pages ablaze! I'm so happy they get their HEA as well. This is another "Must Read" for anyone who loves a good love story.

Shock Me by Lauren Hawkeye
Callie Gilmore is determined to break out of the friend zone with Ryder Hawkins. Donning a mask and making her move seems easy, but when fate throws a curveball, Callie must choose: turn and run … or embrace the night.

My Thoughts On "Shock Me"...

I thoroughly enjoyed this story! It gets a 10 out of 10 on my Steamy Scale! Callie gets the shock of her life when she realizes that the man she seduces is not her best friend Ryder, but his brother Liam! Now she's embarrassed & confused, because in all the time that she's known Ryder, he's never made her fill the way Liam does in just a few minutes. When Liam gets a taste of Callie he can't resist going back for more. No matter what his brother has to say. Callie & Liam set the pages on fire when the passion they share explodes once they're together. I would love to know where life takes Callie & Liam, after this Spring Break neither one of them would ever forget.

My Thoughts on... Two's A Couple, Three's The Law by Eve Langlais

Two's A Couple, Three's The Law ((MFM Paranormal Romance))

Can one woman handle two dominant men intent on staking their claim?

Warning: This story contains adult subject matter and language that is probably not suitable for anyone. (Erotic Paranormal Menage Romance, MFM)

Two's a couple, three's a ménage, not to mention the law. Welcome to an alternate world where the government gives tax breaks to women who choose to take on two or more men--and werewolves live amongst us.

Despite the laws encouraging polygamy, Chloe isn't interested in a relationship with one man, let alone two. But all that changes when a werewolf client decides he wants her for more than just legal aid. He's not alone though. Her nemesis in the courtroom, district attorney Anthony Vanderson, is also intent on seduction.

Caught between two men--naked and panting--she succumbs to passion, gets embroiled in a mystery and learns werewolves aren't the only creatures living amongst humans.

I have to start my review by saying "I'm a HUGE fan of Eve Langlais!". There hasn't been a book that I've read by her I haven't absolutely fell in love with! Two's A Couple, Three's The Law doesn't disappoint ;-)

All of the characters are amazing! I can't get enough of Pete and Anthony! Chloe and her BFF Brenda kept me laughing & with a smile on my face. I was unable to put my Kindle down. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that there are more books to come, involving the fellas and Chloe. Since the ending left the room for the possibility. I would also love for Brenda to get a duo. Maybe even a trio, this is Brenda after all (LOL).

I recommend this book to fans of Eve Langlais. As well as lovers of romance, comedy, paranormal, and suspense. You will undoubtedly enjoy this book.

My Thoughts on... Murder Mi Amore by Cara Marsi

Murder Mi Amore

Award-winning book

Murder, jewel thieves and terrorists intrude on an American woman's Roman holiday; can she trust the sexy, mysterious Italian man who comes to her aid?

Lexie Cortese is in Rome to forget. The last thing she expects is to meet a sexy Interpol agent who suspects her of being part of a terrorist plot involving a stolen diamond. Suddenly thrust into a world of murders, muggings, and kidnappings, Lexie doesn't know what to think--or who to believe.

Dominic Brioni's assignment is simple. Befriend the American and bring her to justice. Only Lexie seems the most unlikely terrorist Dominic has ever met. Sweet, determined, and direct, she faces life with courage and fire, a fire that sparks his protective instincts and a longing for something more--something he allowed himself to hope for only once before.

But that woman betrayed him, and his boss isn't about to let him forget it. With his career on the line and Lexie in danger, will Dominic learn to trust his heart before they both get killed?

This is a great romantic suspense story, about a woman who is determined to put herself 1st for a change. Doing the things she's always dreamed of. Lexie get's more than wished for, when she meets Dominic. This sexy Italian has more to him than just his looks.

If there is anything negative to say about the book; it would be that it ended a little too soon for me. There were somethings that were left up in the air. An epilogue would have been nice, just to see where Lexie and Dominic ended up in the future. Other than that Murder Mi Amore was AWESOME!

I would recommend this book for the lovers of romance, suspense, and covert agents ;-)

My Thoughts on... Between Friends (Friends with Benefits) by Vristen Pierce

Between Friends (Friends with Benefits)

Book 1

Book Description

READY FOR TROUBLE

Stacy Washington needs a change. After being unceremoniously dumped by her long-time boyfriend, she's on her way to one of the hottest clubs in town-and ready to shed her good-girl persona. Good-bye, inhibitions; hello, sexy bartender . . .

Behind the counter, Evan is a sight to behold: dark, good looks, and a killer smile. But before Stacy has a chance to get to know him better, an equally sexy prospect comes her way, and this one is ready to play. Blond, tattooed Justin is not shy about telling Stacy exactly what he wants. Justin and Evan are best friends, but that doesn't stop them from letting Stacy know they'd like to see where the night can take them-all of them. This could be a tricky situation-or the most exhilarating experience of Stacy's life . . .

This is a 1st for me, I'm going to give a review that's on the negative side. I really didn't want to, but I feel this must be said. This book started with great potential, and was shot to hell at the end.

The story is about a woman wanting to step out of her comfort zone and live more. Stop playing it so safe. Stacy does just that when she meets Evan and Justin. By the end of the book she backtracks in a major (cowardly) way.

The pros for this story are Evan and Justin, both are great characters. As well as Stacy's BFF Nina. Another is the steamy factor of the book, which I would give an 8 out of 10 on my Steamy Scale.

I would only recommend reading this book because of the pros I mentioned, and the fact that this is a part of a series. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the 2nd installment us much better.

My Thoughts on... Veterans Day

What is a Veteran?

A "Veteran" - whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve - is someone who, at one point in his/her life, wrote a blank check to "The United States of America," for an amount of "up to and including his/her life".

My grandfather John R.Graves Jr. was in the US Army. He was a medic in WWII, Vietnam, and Korean War , and was an ambulance driver when he was stateside. He loved to serve his country. Although I never got to meet him, I learned about him from my grandmother. Who told me he always called her his better half. His oldest daughter (my aunt) went on to serve in the US Air Force as well.

My brother now serves in the US Navy, and I'm proud of everything he's accomplished. I have other friends and family in the US Armed Forces as well and I appreciate everything they and all of the soldiers do for our country.

Happy Veterans Day, and thank you for all that you do.

My Thoughts on... Take Me Home For Christmas by Brenda Novak

Take Me Home For Christmas (Whiskey Creek)

Book Description
November 1, 2013

Christmas is a time for remembering…

Too bad not all memories are pleasant! Everyone in Whiskey Creek remembers Sophia DeBussi as the town's Mean Girl. Especially Ted Dixon, whose love she once scorned.

But Sophia has paid the price for her youthful transgressions. The man she did marry was rich and powerful but abusive. So when he goes missing, she secretly hopes he'll never come back—until she learns that he died running from an FBI probe of his investment firm. Not only has he left Sophia penniless, he's left her to face all the townspeople he cheated.…

Sophia is reduced to looking for any kind of work to pay the bills and support her daughter. With no other options, she becomes housekeeper for none other than Ted, now a successful suspense writer. He can't bring himself to turn his back on her, not at Christmas, but he refuses to get emotionally involved. He learned his lesson the last time.

Or will the season of love and forgiveness give them both another chance at happiness?

Take Me Home For Christmas was a well written and emotionally engaging story. To me this shows signs of a good book, when I get involved emotionally. The characters are well developed and intriguing.
This book is number 5 in  the Whiskey Creek series, but can be read as a stand alone. This was the first book I've read by Brenda Novak, and enjoyed it immensely.

Sophia & Ted's story is one that shows the growth of both characters mentally and emotionally. Sophia I fell in love with for 2 reasons. First she was the underdog in the story, and second because she had the most to overcome in the book. I recommend this book for lovers of romance and suspense. I look forward reading more books from Brenda Novak.

Soon Chris must choose whether to run away from his new feelings or embrace a relationship with the guy he loves. And Peter must decide if he can give his heart to a guy who hasn't yet figured it all out.

College Boys is the 1st book in the Men of Holsum series, and I must say it was an excellent start! It's a hot & steamy read that I wasn't able to put down until the last page was read. The characters are loveable and you find yourself empathizing with the struggles that Chris & Peter go through on the way to finding their happiness.
Another favorite in this story for me was Peter's BFF Nathaniel, he's a Diva to the max, and I loved him for it! I'm looking forward to reading more books in the Men of Holsum series.
I recommend this book to fans of erotic romance, its a story that you'll absolutely enjoy.
